CocoonCarbon® – CO2 emissions software

With CocoonCarbon® you can deliver added value for your clients by enabling them to meet their ESG goals.

Calculate your Carbon Emissions for Logistics

As consumers are becoming more aware of their carbon footprint, there is a growing demand for goods and services that are environmentally aware of the impact they have and what they are doing to limit this impact.

Logistics companies moving freight will be required to provide this key information from Environmental, Social Governance. The transport element of the supply chain fulls in to Scope 3 Reporting. CocoonCarbon® covers both Upstream & Downstream emissions. (Category 4 & 9).

Scope 3 Reporting for Logistics

Our carbon emissions software can measure your carbon footprint anywhere within the supply chain door to door and the shipments legs in between, you also don’t have to pay per shipment leg.  For example, if you had 100kgs shipping from Downtown Manhattan to Lichfield in the UK we can measure all the different emissions. For example, truck to JFK, airplane to Hamburg airport to Stansted via Airplane, and Stansted to Lichfield via truck.

Carbon Calculations

  • WTW (Well-to-Wheel): This refers to the total lifecycle emissions of a vehicle or fuel, encompassing both the production and consumption stages
  • TTW (Tank-to-Wheel): This focuses solely on the emissions produced during the operation of the vehicle (i.e., while the fuel is being burned or the energy is consumed). It excludes upstream emissions from fuel production and distribution
  • WTT (Well-to-Tank): This refers to emissions generated from the production, processing, and transportation of the fuel or energy source up to the point where it is stored in the vehicle (the “tank”). It covers the “upstream” emissions part of the fuel lifecycle

The methodology is recognised by UNFCC, ICAO, GLEC, ISO, DEFRA and GHG Protocols framework

Calculated Emissions:

  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Nitrogen oxides
  • Particulate Matter Emissions

The tool takes in some assumptions which standard for measuring emisisons. Such as no one control weather/air pressure/wind direction, tidal conditions etc.. and driver habits. For example you can have 2 drivers with same vehicle type, load, travel the same distance, one could drive heavy footed like a formula 1 driver or one driving like miss daisy, so averages and assumptions have to be made.

Achieve ESG Goals

We don’t stop there either! We also provide you with actionable information to help with your carbon offsetting and the cost of offsetting your carbon footprint via carbon credits.

If you like, you can automatically purchase trees through a United Nations, Ecologi Ltd, THG More Group, Gold Standard partner which helps with the sequester of carbon emissions. Our calculations are based on the GHG Protocol methodology

We have big plans for the tool which will enhance and improve the ability of anyone importing or exporting to measure their complete supply chain which will help with any Scope 3 projects and help your business to become carbon neutral.

Be Different – Be Better!

We have five options when it comes to using CocoonCarbon®

  1. Use our carbon emissions calculator
  2. iFrame* – ask for our iframe and you can embed our calculator onto your website. (single search, not limits)
  3. Standalone cloud-based tool – ability to calculate 1 to 10000+ shipments at a time, ability to report and keep track of carbon footprint.
  4. API – if you’re more technically minded you can use our API  to directly link to our calculator and query our tool within your own systems.
  5. CocoonTMP® – The tool is integrated into the core of our CocoonTMP® product which means your clients can run reports or schedule daily, weekly, and monthly reports to see what their C02 emissions are by mode of transport, port of loading, and carrier. We also neatly display on the dashboard by mode your total C02 Emissions year to date.

* you can’t purchase trees via the iFrame, however, we do give the information needed to help you plant trees and carbon offset through carbon credits.

Carbon Sequestration: Capturing and storing atmospheric CO₂ through natural processes (trees)
Carbon Avoidance: Preventing new greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy or efficiency projects.
Carbon Insetting: Reducing or sequestering emissions within a company’s own supply chain or operations.
Carbon Offsetting: Compensating emissions by funding external projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gases.
